How do I add a bottle to my Ledger?

Tap the + button in the Salon or the bottom navigation. You can photograph the label, scan a barcode, upload an invoice, or type the details by hand. The Sommelier reads the label and fills in producer, vintage, region and drink window for you — you only confirm.

What is the Palate Portrait, and why does it matter?

It is your taste in writing — the styles you lean towards, what you avoid, how you like to eat. The Sommelier reads it before every recommendation, so the more you tell it, the more the suggestions sound like your own cellar speaking. Open Palate to edit any field at any time.

Can I change my country or preferred retailer?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Open Account → Your market and choose your country, retailer and currency. Recommendations and prices follow immediately — Systembolaget in Sweden, Vinmonopolet in Norway, Alko in Finland, and sensible equivalents elsewhere.

Can I install PairWise on my phone?

Accepted Answer

Yes. On your first visit you are offered an install prompt; otherwise use your browser's Add to Home Screen. It then behaves like an app, which is how most custodians use it — in the kitchen, or standing in front of the shelf.

Question 5

How do I mark one bottle as drunk when I own several?

Accepted Answer

Open the bottle and choose Mark as drunk. Only one bottle of that entry is consumed — the remaining quantity stays in your Ledger and the bottle moves to the Archive when the last one is poured.

Can I change how many bottles I own after adding them?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The quantity is editable directly on the bottle's page, and during Review & Approve you can set the count for each bottle before it enters the Ledger.

Question 7

How are drink windows decided?

Accepted Answer

They come from the label, the vintage and the Sommelier's reading of producer and region. You can always overwrite the window by hand on the bottle page — your judgement outranks ours.

Question 8

How is the Ledger sorted, and can I search it?

Accepted Answer

Bottles are ordered alphabetically by country, then region, then producer. Use search for producers and vintages, and the filters for colour and vintage range.

The label scan missed some fields. What now?

Accepted Answer

Every scanned field shows a confidence marker. Fields that need your eye are highlighted before you approve. You can edit any value inline, and if a scan fails while you are offline, the entry is saved and enriched automatically once you are back online.

Can I scan several bottles in one sitting?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Take photographs one after another and the Sommelier reads them as a batch, presenting one Review & Approve list at the end. Retake any photograph that came out poorly before approving.

The photograph is crooked or dark — can I fix it?

Accepted Answer

Use the built-in editor to crop, rotate and straighten before reading. Labels are also auto-cropped and deskewed, and you can mark a specific field on the image if the Sommelier read the wrong line.

Question 12

It says the bottle already exists. What should I choose?

Accepted Answer

You decide: add the new bottles to the existing entry, or keep a separate entry — useful when the same wine was bought at a different price or from a different source.

How does the Sommelier choose bottles?

Accepted Answer

It reads your cellar, your Palate Portrait and your market. Pairings work in both directions — a dish for a bottle, or a bottle for a dish — and shopping suggestions are shown from the retailer of your country in three price ranges.

Where do I pair a bottle with a dish?

In the Salon, under the Sommelier's Voice, use the switcher to move between bottle-to-dish and dish-to-bottle. You can choose the bottle yourself, or let the Sommelier reach into the cellar for you.

Can I keep the pairings I liked?

Accepted Answer

Every pairing is written to your pairing history, and an example can be expanded into a full menu that you may save, share or print as a PDF. Your history is also included when you export the Ledger.

How do I share my cellar with someone?

Accepted Answer

Use Share Ledger for a read-only link with an optional expiry date, Cellar Table for a private circle of friends, or Handover to pass a specific bottle to someone with a story attached.

What happens when I hand a bottle over to a friend?

Accepted Answer

They receive it in their inbox — waiting for them even if they have not yet joined — and can accept or defer with one tap. You are alerted whenever the handover moves to a new status.

What do I get for introducing a friend?

Accepted Answer

Each friend who joins on your invitation adds months of membership to your account, on a ladder that grows with the number of custodians you bring to the table. Your code lives behind Share with friends.

Question 19

How do I upgrade, change or cancel my membership?

Accepted Answer

Everything lives in Account → Membership. From there you can upgrade, switch between monthly and yearly, update your payment card or cancel. Cancelling keeps your access until the end of the paid period.

Is there a limit on the free tier?

A guest cellar holds twenty-five bottles. Beyond that the Ledger asks you to take up membership — nothing already recorded is ever removed.

Question 21

My payment failed. What happens to my cellar?

Accepted Answer

Nothing is deleted. Access falls back to guest level until the payment succeeds; update the card in Account → Membership and your full cellar returns at once.

Question 22

Will I lose my cellar if I cancel?

Accepted Answer

Never. Your Ledger, Archive and pairing history remain yours. You can export everything as CSV, JSON or PDF at any time from the Ledger.

Question 23

Is my cellar data private?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Your cellar is visible only to you unless you deliberately create a share link or invite someone to a Cellar Table. Nothing is ever public by default.

Question 24

Can I delete my account entirely?

Accepted Answer

Yes — Account → Delete account removes your cellar, notes and history for good. Export a backup first if you would like to keep a record.

How quickly do you answer support requests?

Requests reach the founder directly. We aim to reply within one business day, and you will always receive a confirmation the moment your message is received.
